Short-Term Running Goals:

I want to run faster. I'd like to win a race or two. I want to smarter and harder and increase my mileage without increasing my injuries.

I'd also like to keep up with this and my other blog. You can check it out at novicexpert.blogspot.com. I don't keep track of my workouts there (just random thoughts on running), so the two don't really interfere.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to win at least one marathon, make a better showing at the next Olympic Trials, try a few ultra-marathons and finish a 100-miler.

Personal:

I lead a simple life. I teach a couple of times a week and run. A lot. I also climb and ski (both snow and water) whenever I get a chance.  I think I'm addicted to sunshine.

I liked this race. small, scenic, nice weather. nice guys even. i started out with this pack of a few guys and a mile or 1.5 into it or so was blocking wind for them. i said something about it and 'chivalry'--joking w/ them and one took the wind for me for a while. i thanked him (but was really going nuts because i hate running behind people). he was running a titch slower than i was, however, and another guy passed so i went with him. he surged after a while and got a short way ahead of me, but i caught him and beat them all.

incidentally, a fastrunningblog guy also won. but he had a jersey. i should have a jersey too. (hint  hint anyone?)

5 miles isn't enough (oh, and a bit warm up and then after i ran back to my sister and my dad).

so, i'm going running again.

Great job on first place! I love that race too, I hate that it fell on v-day this year. Awesome job!

Nice job on the win. Is it a rolling net flat race? I have never raced it.

From Burt on Sat, Feb 14, 2009 at 18:49:49

Congrats on the victory!

From lisap on Sat, Feb 14, 2009 at 20:38:24

thanks for the congrats.

michelle- it's pretty flat course. maybe a few more feet uphill than down. maybe a few inches. they boys up here can attest to the sound of my lungs when running up steep stuff, they were pretty clear until i sprinted at the end.

at any rate, it's a pretty course and has lots of dirt, which my body always appreciates.

Nice job. Talk to Sasha or Steve Hooper about getting a FRB jerset.

From dave holt on Sat, Feb 14, 2009 at 22:44:00

Good job!

Michelle, it is about as flat a course as you get in Utah. Goes from one side of Sand Hollow (lake) around to the other; but it is on dirt, gravel, sand road.

Good Job on the race today. Are you the girl at the starting line that could run a mile faster than a song?

Good race. Sorry if we boxed you in for that first little bit.

From lisap on Sun, Feb 15, 2009 at 02:40:40

yeah that was me. it probably sounded really cocky but i hope it was at least a little apparent that my sister and i were...uh, not completely serious, i mean, i can run a miles in a song (the day the music died) but...anywho, yeah. and no problem w/ the boxing in. part of the race. just glad to run w/ nice guys

From Nate Bundy on Mon, Feb 16, 2009 at 12:39:39

yeah I actually thought it was pretty funny but I was trying to be cool and pretend I wasn't paying attention. Once again, great race!

Congratulations on your win!

Who said chivalry is dead? Maybe it's just ill. Thanks for breaking the wind and letting me pace behind you for as long as I could hold on.

Sincerely, The geezer who took the wind and drove you nuts. :)

From lisap on Thu, Feb 19, 2009 at 13:00:29

oh shoot! you weren't supposed to read that. guess i took a risk posting that running behind you drove me nuts...running behind anyone drives me nuts. i feel claustrophobic. But, thank your for taking the wind for me. chivalry is not dead, indeed.

I guess that's the beauty and danger of the internet. I certainly did not take it personally.

If you weren't so dang fast you would be used to running behind people. I'm sure used to it.

From Burt on Thu, Feb 19, 2009 at 13:52:11

You know, Fly... it would make a much better plot line in this dramatic Soap Opera if you would tell her you're quite offended. Then I could sit back with a bucket of popcorn and watch the fireworks.
