Short-Term Running Goals:

I want to run faster. I'd like to win a race or two. I want to smarter and harder and increase my mileage without increasing my injuries.

I'd also like to keep up with this and my other blog. You can check it out at novicexpert.blogspot.com. I don't keep track of my workouts there (just random thoughts on running), so the two don't really interfere.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to win at least one marathon, make a better showing at the next Olympic Trials, try a few ultra-marathons and finish a 100-miler.

Personal:

I lead a simple life. I teach a couple of times a week and run. A lot. I also climb and ski (both snow and water) whenever I get a chance.  I think I'm addicted to sunshine.

every day my little sis and i exchange "grati-texts"--we text three things we're grateful for. today, i am grateful i ran in the morning. sooooo so much warmer than the afternoon. this afternoon i had to pity the kids at the track meet racing in glorified nothing-ness covering their young bodies. this morning i was warm and hampered only by the wind, which actually felt somewhat nice (could have been softer, that's why only somewhat nice) because it cooled me off. (i have a habit of running in two long sleeved shirts. haven't kicked the habit this yr yet).

anywho, i did a pseudo fartlek thing. 9 blocks hard, 13 blocks, 13 blocks, 9 blocks all w/ easy running in between. strange that's how the roads on the west side broke it up. not 8 and 12 blocks but 9 and 13. oh well, got in an extra .5 miles that way. i was still a bit tired from monday's workout and because i should have run slower yesterday. so i didn't run all out but i did push it. it wasn't easy and i was tired by the end of each and grateful that i didn't do the full 5.5 hard all at once.

one more thing. yeah, that notion of 17 being harder than 16. like more than a mile harder (because for some reason that one mile matters a lot)....it's still true for me.
